Well, I hear something else. It's the Hug Plane, and it's coming in for a landing.
With ya! Decisive enough voting to give weight to the validity of the decision, hopefully stifle continuation of divisive attitudes, and get us moving in a positive direction. So how 'bout Kenya declaring a national holiday to celebrate the election results?!
I called in sick today. Because i'm so deeply distressed, disgusted and upset.I think I'll get drunk and go golfing this afternoon.
Good old America, showing up when we need her most. Hooray for making history!
Well, you've got the White House, Senate, and House. Let's see what you do with it.Me? I'm still clinging to my guns and religion.
is it just me or isn't it scary how the world seems to be rejoicing that we got obama....i didn't like bush, but the rest of the world didn't declare national holidays. they feared the USA and it's leadership. it seems as if now they feel they can take us over!!!
Individual responsibility and self-reliance, I hardly knew ye. Now then, do I have to wait until January for the free gas and my mortgage payment to disappear?
Scary things will happen with this guy in office.
"With ninety-six percent..."Interesting that's the same percentage of blacks that voted for Obama. Nope, race WAS NOT a factor in this election.Change we can believe in, huh?
The black vote is reliably 92+ % for the Democrat in national elections. So, no, race was NOT the big factor in this election.
When does the South succeed from the Union? We can just send all of your young men to finish the Iraq war -- it is not like they will be able do anything with a Southern HS Diploma anyway.
Lots of paranoia up in here, but I'm with Doug. As John McCain said, Godspeed, President Elect Obama. We all need you to succeed, no matter each person's preference.
Agreed. America is the big winner. Oh, and the University of Florida. Christ, that was a beatdown.
Of course we all need him to succeed, I'm just afraid he won't. Or that he won't get the chance.People are crazy.
I guess I'm glad that some people see this is a positive thing because I sure as hell do not. I'm afraid you Obama people don't know what you are going to get out of this. Hope I'm wrong. God bless the USA, we will need it more than ever.
You ever see a lap dog that has just been let out of the house on a warm sunny day? The first thing it does is lay down on the grass, roll over, stick it's feet in the air and scratch it's back on the grass all the while wagging it's tail..That's how happy I am today.
Yes we are.
WTG ObamaI think we all need some Madonna - HolidayI converted the youtube video to a mp4 file for those who want it for their ipod :). It looks great and sounds even better on my ipod. The link is only good for 24 hoursWait like 5 or 10 seconds and the download link will show. A green arrow with the download will show. It's the madonnaholiday.mp4 (18372 Kb) http://media-convert.com/convert/?xid=17-dvhaveap Oh and if the link says it doesn't work just try again. Apparently sometimes it does this. I guess a glitch, but I've used this site quite a bit for online converting files. Great site and very trustworthy. I truly feel the pain for the McCain supporters. My Mom and Dad both voted for McCain. It's a tough loss no doubt. Oh, and btw, can we all just still be friends?
nice! thanks miles. it looks great on my ipod. and thanks for that website too.
I could change my mind about being friends. But right now I'm really feeling good. And my only friend is my booze right now.Anyway, I went to the play golf this afternoon (by myself). And the golf course community I live in is a Jack Nicklaus golf course community. Yes, I have live in a big ass house on the golf course.I really was able to vent my frustration. I didn't play golf. Well, I think I stopped a few times to tee off. But, I ended up driving the golf cart all over the course over 3 hours all around the course. I hit a tree twice. Put a dent in the cart on the left side and almost got into a fight. When I took the cart back the guy I just told him there was already a dent in the side and he didn't even question me about it. I really don't give a shit anymore and I'm going to bed and sleep this awful day away. I've had way to much to drink. And no I didn't drive while drinking. I jsut drove to the clubhouse.
Where does I gets my check? I needs some new rims den I be goin to UGA fro free. I donts needs to be wukin for da man. I be da man!
Doug, what is going on the comments for the last couple of days? Things have taken a bit of a frightening turn. That said, I got chills reading this post (and pretty much everything relating to the results for the last 36 hours). I was thinking on Election night that you and a few of my other friends who were staunch supporters and defenders of Obama through this process should also be giving yourselves a well-deserved pat on the back. You really got the word out and gave well-reasoned arguments for Obama, and that made a difference.
It's just nice to have a president(-elect) who is an individual of superior intelligence and an upholder of habeas corpus. It's the little things, really.
The South Park episode last night really hit the nail on the head. There's extreme jubilation on one side, and extreme fear on the other. It's sad to me that America has become so polarized. I will preface this comment by saying that I don't see eye to eye with some of Obama's beliefs, but to judge a man's performance before he's ever been given the chance is just silly. Many people cringe when Supreme Court justices are assigned, but if you follow history, those that were tagged as "too liberal" tend to be more conservative, and vice-versa. Obama said it best when we are not identified by Republican/Democrat/white/black/gay/straight. We are all Americans. If you think Obama is wrong for the country, let him prove it himself and vote him out in four years. He has at least earned that chance. I just ask that people give the man a chance to succeed. When we look back in four years we should ask the same question Ronald Reagan posed to us in 1980, "are you better off than you were four years ago?". If not, then vote him out. But if you are, then a lot of this early criticism just looks silly.
So, just a quick question or two for the folks "scared" and "worried" about the US under Obama.1. Saddam's dead, and the Iraqi people want us to leave. What more has to happen over there before you would declare "victory"? Should they all convert to Christianity and sing Kum-bay-ya? Should they open a stock exchange?2. Right now your tax dollars are paying for Lehman brothers corporate retreats. Banks are being nationalized. How can Obama "ruin the capitalism, free-market system" when deregulation has already done a good job of it?
America is not the winner. We lost in a shameful shameful way. Not really any different than if the election results were reversed.....both parties should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. The only way we could be worse off would be a Pat Robertson/Nancy Pelosi ticket.
Thank you Will and auditdawg. Y'all said what I've been thinking. It's a new administration which means change is going to happen. I don't understand people wishing bad things to happen just so they can say "I told you so." It's like being around a bunch of damn Packer fans.
@jkelsofarrell, Thanks for the kind words. I should also clarify that I didn't vote for Obama, but I'm just sick of how polarized this country I love is today. I'm not an Obama supporter, but we will never achieve anything if we set ourselves up for failure because of petty differences.
Always knew zen bubba was a lap dog.Give him a chance?OK.I gave him three chances and I still want to know if tax increases will be on the those making over $250, 200 or 150K?I gave him a chance to respond to the Russian invasion of Georgia and he changed his position 3 times over 5 days before arriving McCain's original position. He was MIA with the financial bubble while McCain blundered through it. But O was a no-show.Personally, I'm more concerned about a Michelle Obama. She doesn't like white folk. Period. Let's hope she's a tea and cookies first lady. When you have a choice between two bad choices you end up with just one bad choice. Yes, like W. And when you return 96% of incumbents to Congress, we're just asking for the crap bed we've got in DC. I expect more of the same. Congrats, we've been conned...again.
