But, then I found out how funny you are (except for that leet slang crap), so I read more often. And, now I find you're a pretty good preacher. Nice.

Also, I disagree with Tom. I don't think apologizing to the girl would be a good next step. I think it would come across as a selfish attempt to make yourself feel better. It's great that you've been enlighted and dropped your anger, but that's all about you. She probably doesn't even think about the things you've said.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11250715.post-23213567535329960602007-03-06T11:11:00.000-05:002007-03-06T11:11:00.000-05:00On a more practical note, pick one thing at a time...On a more practical note, pick one thing at a time. I have a short temper and two children under 5, which can be an unhappy mix. It's taken a few embarrassing incidents to drive home the need, but I've found that governing my temper with them is good parenting, and - oddly - it's seeping into the other parts of my life.

Doesn't mean that I don't still get angry at some of the asshats who work with me -- well, more specifically take up cubicle space and cause problems -- but things are gradually improving.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11250715.post-53289084790887693742007-03-06T09:56:00.000-05:002007-03-06T09:56:00.000-05:00You're coming to non-violence from a different pat...You're coming to non-violence from a different path but keep coming. Maybe the next step is to apologize to the girl to whom you said some angry things.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11250715.post-57525798207335521922007-03-06T08:34:00.000-05:002007-03-06T08:34:00.000-05:00Great post, Doug. It wasn't until several years ago that I realized there was more to the story than his being swallowed by a "great fish". The really interesting part is later. There's a lesson about anger in there. The story's a little on the obscure side, maybe, but there's a single line - a question - that God speaks to Jonah that helps me weekly. It's a very, very short book (something like 4 chapters) and worthy of some meditation.NCThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10657029855933201374noreply@blogger.com
